Introducing the Astute Leaders Circle: A New Kind of ECE Business Coaching Programme

Running an early childhood centre is one of the most complex small business challenges in New Zealand. You are responsible for the safety and development of young children, the compliance obligations of a heavily regulated sector, the financial performance of a business that operates on tight margins, and the leadership of a team that carries enormous emotional load.

Most centre owners do that largely alone.

The professional support available to ECE operators in New Zealand has historically been fragmented. You can find a generic business coach who does not understand the sector, or ECE-specific professional development that focuses on pedagogy but not performance. Rarely both, in a format that provides genuine accountability and ongoing support.

That is what the Astute Leaders Circle was built to address.

What Is the Astute Leaders Circle?

The Astute Leaders Circle is a selective coaching, mentoring and accountability programme designed specifically for ambitious ECE centre owners and senior leaders in New Zealand.

It is not a workshop series. It is not a one-off consultation. It is an ongoing operational and strategic partnership that gives members the support, analysis, accountability and peer network that running a high-performing ECE business actually requires.

The programme launches on 13 July 2026 and is capped at 20 services nationally.

What Makes It Different

Most coaching programmes give you frameworks and leave you to apply them. The Astute Leaders Circle goes further.

Fortnightly financial and operational analysis.

Members receive regular review and guidance across occupancy, wage percentages, revenue performance, profitability indicators, and operational KPIs. The focus is not on producing reports. It is on helping owners understand what their numbers are saying and what to do next.

Monthly coaching, mentoring and strategic guidance.

This includes annual planning, budget and forecasting support, quarterly business reviews, QIP support, EC3C progressive auditing, and Health and Safety accountability. Structured, practical, and grounded in real ECE operational experience.

Monthly Q&A and peer support.

Members get access to a trusted network of ECE owners and leaders who are dealing with the same challenges. The conversations that happen in this group, about occupancy, staffing, compliance, culture, and growth, are the kind that are difficult to have anywhere else.

A growing resource library.

Policies, templates, checklists, compliance frameworks, planning tools and leadership resources, all designed for NZ ECE services.

Why the Membership Cap Matters

The programme is intentionally limited to 20 services nationally. This is not a marketing tactic. It is a structural decision that protects the quality and openness of the group.

To ensure members can speak freely about their business, competing services within the same geographic catchment area are not accepted into the programme. That means members can openly discuss occupancy rates, staffing challenges, financial performance, and operational issues without any commercial awkwardness.

Prior to launch, 7 memberships have already been confirmed. Thirteen places remain.

Who This Is For

The Astute Leaders Circle is designed for ECE centre owners and senior leaders who are serious about operating at a higher level. It suits people who want expert guidance, value accountability, and are prepared to act on what they learn.

It is not designed for passive operators. The programme works because members show up, engage honestly, and do the work.

If you have been looking for something more than generic advice, something built by people who understand the ECE sector from the inside, this is it.

The Investment

Membership in the Astute Leaders Circle is $420 + GST per week.

For context, that is less than a day of typical consulting fees, for fortnightly financial analysis, monthly coaching, monthly peer support, and full access to the resource library, delivered by a team with decades of ECE operational experience.
